About Us

Fikkers Wine started as a bit of fun on the side when Anthony Fikkers was working as winemaker for Mac Forbes Wines. A 30-year-old dry-grown vineyard in the upper Yarra Valley caught his eye, and the lure of an independent vineyard-to-bottle project was too great to ignore. One hundred cases of the 2010 Fikkers Two Bricks Sauvignon Semillon were made, and a label was born.
The business has grown, but the premise remains the same. Small batches of wine from unique sites around the Yarra Valley are crafted into honest, affordable, smashable wines. Grapes are purchased from trusted growers and are all handpicked. All the winemaking is done by Anthony in leased winery space. His approach is one of minimal intervention but maximum attention. He believes that ‘less is more’ in the winemaking process.
The range has expanded and wines are now released under two labels. The Two Bricks label is the workhorse. It features larger blends, which can be multi-vineyard, and the wines usually contain little or no new oak. The Fikkers range is reserved for small batches of strictly single vineyard wines. The wines in each range have changed over the years as new opportunities present themselves.
Anthony started in the wine industry in 2000 and has since completed Bachelor degrees in both Winemaking and Viticulture as well as working vintages in the Hunter Valley, Yarra Valley, Baden (Germany) Piemonte (Italy) and Burgundy (France).
